Last week, for no particular reason, the heat arrived to Manchester. I mean, real heat, proper Italian style. Usually summer temperatures here are around 18 °C -20 °C so having 28 °C -30 °C and sunny days was something really special and exciting.
I wanted to do a different kind of recipe (maybe this will be the beginning of few new entries in the blog) to welcome Summer properly. So, I decided to prepare an amazing Sangria with you, perfect to drink on the beach, in your garden or on the sofa looking for fresh air.
Obviously our Unicorn family does things better, so I asked my Spanish friends to join me and tell us the recipe for a truly original Sangria.
Guys, the final result is a fresh drink with a light taste of alcohol, incredibly refreshing and with a spectacular depth of flavours.
I’m sure it will take just one sip to win you over and it will become a staple in your future Summers.
A massive thanks to my friends Miriam, Sandra and Miriam for being with me today! Chicas, this recipe is amazing, super bonita!
I’ll leave you to the recipe, see you soon.
The original Sangria
How to make the original Sangria, with my Spanish friends!
Cut all the fresh fruit in little squares (apples, peaches and oranges).
The recipe is really easy, all the ingredients go one after the other into the jug.
Put the fruit, the sugar, the cinnamon stick, the wine in the jug and mix with a wooden spoon.
Then add the Red Martini, lemon, lime and orange juice and stir it all up with the bubbly Sprite.
Put the Sangria in the fridge to chill for few hours, so the fruit will release its flavour.
Before serving put some ice in each glass.
